The work A view of the Amstel with the Amstel Hotel in the distance, Amsterdam by Gustave de Smet was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2011. The auction ended at the price of EUR 15,000.00, which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of EUR 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gustave de Smet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Les Amants in March 2019 with an auction result of EUR 588,500.00.

Die Arbeit A view of the Amstel with the Amstel Hotel in the distance, Amsterdam von Gustave de Smet kam im November 2011 bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von EUR 15.000,00 entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gustave de Smet erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Les Amants im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 588.500,00.
