Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Green and Silver (Blue Hill Lake in the Mist) by Gustave Adolph Wiegand was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,000.00 (€ 710.18). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gustave Adolph Wiegand - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work River Running Through A Snowy Mountainscape, which sold at auction in December 2007 for USD 2,250.00 (€ 1,540.78).
