Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sister With Summer Hat by Guo Hongwei was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 25,000.00 (€ 2,857.46). Admittedly, works by Guo Hongwei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Plant No. 12 in October 2016 with an auction result of HKD 137,500.00 (€ 16,180.90).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Sister With Summer Hat von Guo Hongwei im Oktober 2019 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 25.000,00 (€ 2.857,46) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Guo Hongwei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Plant No. 12 im Oktober 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 137.500,00 (€ 16.180,90).
