Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Gui Fu achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2017. In the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy auction, the work Clerical Script Calligraphy sold for HKD 250,000.00 (€ 28,546.64) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gui Fu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Pair Of Long -Men Couplet Of Calligraphy In Seal Script in October 2014 with an auction result of HKD 4,130,000.00 (€ 425,195.53).
