Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Gui Fu achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in May 2016. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings auction, the work Calligraphy In Clerical Script sold for HKD 106,250.00 (€ 12,280.53) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gui Fu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Pair Of Long -Men Couplet Of Calligraphy In Seal Script in October 2014 with an auction result of HKD 4,130,000.00 (€ 425,195.53).
