Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Big Baby, 1994 by Guan Wei was auctioned at Bonhams in March this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 600.00 – 900.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 246.00 (€ 151.69). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Guan Wei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Playing With String in April 2011 with an auction result of HKD 1,100,000.00 (€ 95,594.09).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Big Baby, 1994 von Guan Wei im März diesen Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 600,00 – 900,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 246,00 (€ 151,69) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Guan Wei erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Playing With String im April 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.100.000,00 (€ 95.594,09).
