woodcut, circa 1600, on laid paper, without watermark, a very good impression of this uncommon print, second, final state, printing with much gaufrage, trimmed to the borderline on all sides, a narrow margin at lower right, with the usual horizontal drying crease, a pale brown stain near the mouth of the lion, tipped down at the upper left corner, otherwise in good condition

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Saint Jerome by Giuseppe Scolari was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2019. Here, the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 3,250.00 (€ 2,837.44). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giuseppe Scolari - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Saint George and the Dragon, which sold at auction in July 2020 for GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,457.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Saint Jerome von Giuseppe Scolari kam im Januar 2019 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 3.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 3.250,00 (€ 2.837,44) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Giuseppe Scolari mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Saint George and the Dragon beobachtet, die im Juli 2020 für GBP 9.375,00 (€ 10.457,10) versteigert wurde.
