woodcut, circa 1600, on laid paper, watermark Fleur-de Lys and indistinct countermark, a very good impression of the second state (of three), with the gap at the lower edge and a couple of small wormholes in the block, printing strongly and with sharp relief verso, with small margins, a curved backed tear at upper right, another short tear at centre right, generally in good condition

In January 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master Prints, which included the work Saint George and the Dragon by Giuseppe Scolari. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,750.00 (€ 7,639.25), 46% above the upper estimate. Other works by Giuseppe Scolari have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,457.10) in July 2020 for the work Saint George and the Dragon.
