Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Giuseppe Porta could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in January 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture auction, the work Joseph And His Brothers changed hands for USD 46,875.00 (€ 35,911.28) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giuseppe Porta achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A bearded man, half-length, wearing a quartered doublet, gesturing to the left in July 2002 with an auction result of GBP 402,650.00 (€ 642,242.37).
