In November 2017 Christies in London held the auction The Lure of Naples: A Private Collection of Italian Views, which included the work The Bay of Naples seen from the North, from Capodimonte; and The Bay of Naples with Posillipo seen from the West by Giuseppe Gustavo Scoppa. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,256.81), 50% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Giuseppe Gustavo Scoppa; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Carriages and figures on the Via della Riviera di Chiaia, Naples sold at auction in October 2003 with the realized price of GBP 3,995.00 (€ 5,835.06).
