Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Madonna and Child with Saint Catherine and putti by Giuseppe Bartolomeo Chiari was auctioned at Bonhams in London in April 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 6,630.00 (€ 7,626.43). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giuseppe Bartolomeo Chiari achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bathsheba at the Bath; and The Angel Appearing to Hagar in the Wilderness in January this year with an auction result of USD 378,000.00 (€ 348,130.41).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Madonna and Child with Saint Catherine and putti von Giuseppe Bartolomeo Chiari im April 2021 bei Bonhams in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 6.630,00 (€ 7.626,43) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Giuseppe Bartolomeo Chiari erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Bathsheba at the Bath; and The Angel Appearing to Hagar in the Wilderness im Januar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 378.000,00 (€ 348.130,41).
