Description
Five large, beautifully hand-coloured etchings from the series "Loggie di Rafaele nel Vaticano", published in Rome in 1772-77. The plates were engraved by Giovanni Ottaviani and Giovanni Volpato after Gaetano Savorelli, Luigi Teseo and Pietro Camporesi.
Each plate composed of two sheets. Height up to 79,3 cms, width up to 68,7 cms. One plate with a few marginal spots in margin, three with small marginal repairs on verso. Watermark: Honig & Zoonen.
Purchased during a journey in Italy in 1908.

The »bidding war« ended at SEK 44,000.00 (€ 4,291.92), 26% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giovanni Ottaviani - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 14 Bll.: Loggie di Raffaelle nel Vaticano: Pilasterverzierungen., which sold at auction in May 2008 for EUR 10,000.00.

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von SEK 44.000,00 (€ 4.291,92) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Ottaviani mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 14 Bll.: Loggie di Raffaelle nel Vaticano: Pilasterverzierungen. beobachtet, die im Mai 2008 für EUR 10.000,00 versteigert wurde.
