Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Drawings, which included the work The Discovery Of Romulus And Remus by Giovanni David. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,750.00 (€ 5,895.83) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Giovanni David have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Nightmare in July 2018 with an auction result of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 49,053.37).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Master Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Discovery Of Romulus And Remus von Giovanni David zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.750,00 (€ 5.895,83) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Giovanni David auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Nightmare im Juli 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 43.750,00 (€ 49.053,37).
