In July 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work A Classical Scene With A Vestal Virgin Making An Offering On A Sarcophagus by Giovanni David for GBP 5,400.00 (€ 8,020.25). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Drawings at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Giovanni David have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Nightmare in July 2018 with an auction result of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 49,053.37).
