Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Italian Blowing Bubbles by Giovanni Battista Torriglia was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Sothebys in New York in April 2010. The price achieved of USD 72,100.00 (€ 54,202.38) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Admittedly, works by Giovanni Battista Torriglia have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Italian The Thread Of Life in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 228,500.00 (€ 319,959.12).
