In February 2013 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master and 19th Century European Paintings and Drawings, including Property from the Estate of Giancarlo Baroni, which included the work The Storyteller by Giovanni Battista Torriglia. The »bidding war« ended at USD 46,875.00 (€ 35,839.90), 34% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Giovanni Battista Torriglia have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Italian The Thread Of Life in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 228,500.00 (€ 319,959.12).

Im Februar 2013 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Master and 19th Century European Paintings and Drawings, including Property from the Estate of Giancarlo Baroni durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Storyteller von Giovanni Battista Torriglia zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 46.875,00 (€ 35.839,90) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Giovanni Battista Torriglia auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Italian The Thread Of Life im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 228.500,00 (€ 319.959,12).
