Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Old Masters, which included the work The Madonna at prayer, a landscape beyond by Giovanni Battista Salvi. It changed hands for a price of USD 237,500.00 (€ 203,915.17) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 150,000.00 – 250,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Giovanni Battista Salvi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Madonna and Child embracing in an interior, a landscape with Saint Joseph beyond, which sold at auction in July 2012 for GBP 433,250.00 (€ 551,844.05).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Masters durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Madonna at prayer, a landscape beyond von Giovanni Battista Salvi zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 237.500,00 (€ 203.915,17) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 150.000,00 – 250.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Giovanni Battista Salvi mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Madonna and Child embracing in an interior, a landscape with Saint Joseph beyond beobachtet, die im Juli 2012 für GBP 433.250,00 (€ 551.844,05) versteigert wurde.
