Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Saint John The Baptist In The Wilderness by Giovanni Battista Caracciolo was sold in the Important Old Master Paintings and European Works of Art auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 90,000.00 (€ 69,241.42) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Giovanni Battista Caracciolo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Calling Of Saint Matthew in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 538,000.00 (€ 496,676.51).
