Auction result well in line with expectations
The work View of the Colosseum, Rome; and View of the Arch of Janus with the Church of S. Giorgio in Velabro, Rome by Giovanni Battista Busiri was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2009. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 12,765.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Giovanni Battista Busiri have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Six Roman Views: The Colosseum; The Temple Of Vesta At Tivoli; The Waterfalls At Tivoli; The Pyramid Of Caius Cestius; The Temple Of Vesta In Rome; The Tomb Of Caecilia Metella in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 41,250.00 (€ 53,102.43).
