Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Giovanni Antonio Guardi could be acquired at Christies in New York in February 2024 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master & British Drawings auction, the work The Fall of Constantinople, after Domenico Tintoretto changed hands for USD 18,900.00 (€ 16,518.09) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Antonio Guardi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Apollo; and Diana in June 2015 with an auction result of USD 245,000.00 (€ 219,652.14).
