Auction result well in line with expectations
In October last year Christies in New York held the auction The Ann & Gordon Getty Collection: Volume 1 | Important Pictures and Decorative Arts, Evening Sale, which included the work Venice, The Grand Canal Looking South, From The Ca' Da Mosto Toward The Rialto Bridge by Giovanni Antonio Canal. The price achieved of USD 3,780,000.00 (€ 3,805,113.75) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00. Admittedly, works by Giovanni Antonio Canal have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Bucintoro At The Molo, Venice, On Ascension Day in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 11,432,000.00 (€ 16,582,008.08).

Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion The Ann & Gordon Getty Collection: Volume 1 | Important Pictures and Decorative Arts, Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Venice, The Grand Canal Looking South, From The Ca' Da Mosto Toward The Rialto Bridge von Giovanni Antonio Canal zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 3.780.000,00 (€ 3.805.113,75) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 3.000.000,00 – 5.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Giovanni Antonio Canal auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Bucintoro At The Molo, Venice, On Ascension Day im Juli 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 11.432.000,00 (€ 16.582.008,08).
