Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Rialto Bridge, Venice, from the south with an embarkation, traditionally identified as the Prince of Saxony during his visit to Venice in 1740 by Giovanni Antonio Canal was sold in the Old Masters auction at Christies in New York in January this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,500,000.00 – 3,500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,700,000.00 (€ 2,486,645.79) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Giovanni Antonio Canal have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Bucintoro At The Molo, Venice, On Ascension Day in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 11,432,000.00 (€ 16,582,008.08).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Rialto Bridge, Venice, from the south with an embarkation, traditionally identified as the Prince of Saxony during his visit to Venice in 1740 von Giovanni Antonio Canal wurde im Januar diesen Jahres in der Auktion Old Masters bei Christies in New York versteigert.
