Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Giovanni Antonio Canal could be acquired at Christies in New York in October last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Ann & Gordon Getty Collection: Volume 1 | Important Pictures and Decorative Arts, Evening Sale auction, the work A Capriccio With The Church Of The Redentore changed hands for USD 882,000.00 (€ 887,859.88) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Antonio Canal achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Bucintoro At The Molo, Venice, On Ascension Day in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 11,432,000.00 (€ 16,582,008.08).
