In November 2007 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Master Pictures and Drawings, which included the work Peasants eating, drinking and smoking in an interior by Gillis van Tilborgh II. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 19,450.00 30% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gillis van Tilborgh II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work An Elegant Interior With Twelve Gentleman Surrounded By Paintings And Leather Wall Coverings With A Game Of Backgammon At Center in February 2018 with an auction result of USD 915,000.00 (€ 749,324.38).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 30 % übertroffen
Im November 2007 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Old Master Pictures and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Peasants eating, drinking and smoking in an interior von Gillis van Tilborgh II zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 19.450,00 und damit 30% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gillis van Tilborgh II erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit An Elegant Interior With Twelve Gentleman Surrounded By Paintings And Leather Wall Coverings With A Game Of Backgammon At Center im Februar 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 915.000,00 (€ 749.324,38).
