This artwork by Getahun Assefa Balcha achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in April 2021. In the Modern & Contemporary African Art Online Sale auction, the work Coffee aroma sold for GBP 8,925.00 (€ 10,266.35) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Getahun Assefa Balcha; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Girl with Cherries sold at auction in March last year with the realized price of GBP 11,970.00 (€ 14,191.78).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Getahun Assefa Balcha erzielte im April 2021 bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art Online Sale wurde die Arbeit Coffee aroma für GBP 8.925,00 (€ 10.266,35) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 5.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Getahun Assefa Balcha; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Girl with Cherries im März letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 11.970,00 (€ 14.191,78).
