Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2011 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction The Jan & Monique des Bouvrie Collection, which included the work A set of six black and white military chairs and a table by Gerrit Rietveld. The price achieved of EUR 4,375.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerrit Rietveld achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hoge armchair, designed in 1919, our model of 1963 in February 2021 with an auction result of EUR 214,200.00.
