In January 2007 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master Drawings, which included the work A Mountainous River Landscape With Boats Being Unloaded, A Hill-Top Church And A Village In The Distance by Gerrit Battem. The »bidding war« ended at USD 27,000.00 (€ 20,772.43), 35% above the upper estimate. Other works by Gerrit Battem have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 35,027.61) in July 2012 for the work A Winter Landscape With Figures On A Frozen Canal.
