Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work The Virgin In Prayer At The Foot Of The Cross, With Crying Angels by Gerard Seghers. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 31,250.00 (€ 35,167.30) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gerard Seghers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Repentant Mary Magdalene in January 2021 with an auction result of USD 746,000.00 (€ 614,750.72).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Masters Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Virgin In Prayer At The Foot Of The Cross, With Crying Angels von Gerard Seghers zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 31.250,00 (€ 35.167,30) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gerard Seghers erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Repentant Mary Magdalene im Januar 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 746.000,00 (€ 614.750,72).
