A top price for Georges Victor Hugo - as previously expected

The work Portrait of a gentleman by Georges Victor Hugo was auctioned at Christies in London in February 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 881.25 (€ 1,438.11) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Portrait of a gentleman is the most expensive artwork by Georges Victor Hugo that we have observed at auctions so far.

Die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman von Georges Victor Hugo kam im Februar 2002 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 881,25 (€ 1.438,11) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Portrait of a gentleman das teuerste Kunstwerk von Georges Victor Hugo, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
