Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2018 Christies in New York held the auction The Collection of Peggy and David Rockefeller: 19th and 20th Century Art, Evening Sale, which included the work La rade de Grandcamp (Le port de Grandcamp) by Georges Seurat. The price achieved of USD 34,062,500.00 (€ 29,188,089.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 30,000,000.00 – 40,000,000.00. Admittedly, works by Georges Seurat have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Les Poseuses, Ensemble (Petite version) in November last year with an auction result of USD 149,240,000.00 (€ 144,570,376.83).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2018 führte Christies in New York die Auktion The Collection of Peggy and David Rockefeller: 19th and 20th Century Art, Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit La rade de Grandcamp (Le port de Grandcamp) von Georges Seurat zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 34.062.500,00 (€ 29.188.089,12) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 30.000.000,00 – 40.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Georges Seurat auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Les Poseuses, Ensemble (Petite version) im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 149.240.000,00 (€ 144.570.376,83).
