Artwork auctioned at 13 times the upper estimate price
The work A group of caricatures, (six from the White Bottoms series) depicting scenes of dancing, revelry and racing and featuring notable society figures of the day including Baron Maurice de Rothschild and H.H. Sir Sultan Muhammed Shah, Aga Khan by Georges Goursat was worth GBP 6,500.00 (€ 7,331.80) to a buyer in November 2018. This price was achieved in the auction Annabel's at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 500.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Georges Goursat; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Monte-Carlo sold at auction in November 2017 with the realized price of HKD 106,250.00 (€ 11,439.42).
