This artwork by George Widener achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2016. In the Liberation through Expression: Outsider and Vernacular Art auction, the work Titanic (1912-1947), 2012 sold for USD 22,500.00 (€ 20,771.79) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by George Widener; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Megalopolis 181, 2007 sold at auction in January 2019 with the realized price of USD 40,000.00 (€ 34,922.30).

Dieses Kunstwerk von George Widener erzielte im Januar 2016 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis.
