Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Brahma Bull by George Phippen was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in February 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 475.00 (€ 417.44). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Phippen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Visitor in April 2019 with an auction result of USD 35,075.00 (€ 31,314.17).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Brahma Bull von George Phippen im Februar 2019 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 475,00 (€ 417,44) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Phippen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Visitor im April 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 35.075,00 (€ 31.314,17).
