Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Stilleven XI: a vanitas still life by George Martens was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in March 2011. The price achieved of EUR 1,187.50 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by George Martens have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A still life with flowers and fruits in December 2006 with an auction result of EUR 9,600.00.

Die Arbeit Stilleven XI: a vanitas still life von George Martens kam im März 2011 bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 1.187,50 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Martens auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A still life with flowers and fruits im Dezember 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 9.600,00.
