In March 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings, which included the work Grapes, cherries, plums, gooseberries and melons on a silver platter with a bejewelled cup and cover on a ledge by George Lance. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,767.50 (€ 11,627.24), 29% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Lance - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Burgomaster'S Dessert, which sold at auction in November 2004 for GBP 20,912.50 (€ 30,082.52).

Im März 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Victorian including Scottish Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Grapes, cherries, plums, gooseberries and melons on a silver platter with a bejewelled cup and cover on a ledge von George Lance zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 7.767,50 (€ 11.627,24) und damit 29% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von George Lance mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Burgomaster'S Dessert beobachtet, die im November 2004 für GBP 20.912,50 (€ 30.082,52) versteigert wurde.
