Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A small collection of views of Ireland including: Dunleary, Dublin Bay (illustrated); Dremash on the Blackwater, County Waterford, (illustrated); and Ross Carbery sic, County Cork (recto); and A view looking towards the sea (verso) by George Jones was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Jones achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Battle of Waterloo in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 56,250.00 (€ 79,743.61).
