Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A train crossing a viaduct by George James Rowe was auctioned at Christies in London in January 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 250.00 (€ 335.14). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George James Rowe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pont Street, London in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,814.76).
