Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A lazy day in the farmyard; and Sailing in the sun, Rowhedge by George J. Charlton was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 180.00 (€ 263.50). Admittedly, works by George J. Charlton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bloomsbury In The Sun in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 840.00 (€ 1,234.07).
