Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Palisades on the Hudson by George Inness was sold in the American Art auction at Sothebys in New York in December 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 126,000.00 (€ 103,025.35) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Inness achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sunset on the River in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 1,945,000.00 (€ 1,250,000.00).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Palisades on the Hudson von George Inness wurde im Dezember 2020 in der Auktion American Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 126.000,00 (€ 103.025,35) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Inness erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sunset on the River im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.945.000,00 (€ 1.250.000,00).
