In the British & European Art: Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction, the work Piccadilly Circus; and The Empire, Leicester Square sold for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 16,469.00) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by George Hyde Pownall; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Piccadilly Circus; and The Empire, Leicester Square sold at auction in December 2018 with the realized price of GBP 18,125.00 (€ 20,192.86).
