Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Don't Shake My Drink by George Hughes was sold in the AFRICA Theme Sale auction at Phillips in New York in May 2010. The price achieved of USD 6,250.00 (€ 5,052.95) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Hughes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Writing Thank You Notes in November 2019 with an auction result of USD 200,000.00 (€ 181,504.67).
