This artwork by George Engleheart achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2019. In the The Pohl-Ströher Collection of Portrait Miniatures Part II auction, the work Portrait Of Master Joseph May sold for GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,096.59) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Engleheart have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A young lady, facing right in low-cut white dress, white shirt with high standing lace-bordered collar, lace cap and straw bonnet tied with white ribbons in her dark brown curling hair in December 2002 with an auction result of GBP 45,410.00 (€ 69,706.62).
