Watercolour on ivory, gold fausse-montre frame with blue and white enamel borders front and verso, the front set with an inner surround of seed pearls.

Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by George Engleheart could be acquired at Bonhams in April this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work A portrait miniature of an officer, wearing red coat with blue collar and facings edged with gold trim, gold epaulettes and brass buttons, white chemise, stock and lace cravat, his hair powdered changed hands for GBP 2,295.00 (€ 2,615.55) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Engleheart achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A young lady, facing right in low-cut white dress, white shirt with high standing lace-bordered collar, lace cap and straw bonnet tied with white ribbons in her dark brown curling hair in December 2002 with an auction result of GBP 45,410.00 (€ 69,706.62).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
