Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Young Officer, Circa 1800 by George Engleheart was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2018. The price achieved of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 5,848.97) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Engleheart achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A young lady, facing right in low-cut white dress, white shirt with high standing lace-bordered collar, lace cap and straw bonnet tied with white ribbons in her dark brown curling hair in December 2002 with an auction result of GBP 45,410.00 (€ 69,706.62).
