Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Major-General, Wearing The Peninsular Gold Medal, Circa 1812 by George Engleheart was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2019. It changed hands for a price of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,568.28) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Engleheart achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A young lady, facing right in low-cut white dress, white shirt with high standing lace-bordered collar, lace cap and straw bonnet tied with white ribbons in her dark brown curling hair in December 2002 with an auction result of GBP 45,410.00 (€ 69,706.62).
