Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Osier whitening or withy peeling by George Elgar Hicks was sold in the 19th Century and British Impressionist Art auction at Bonhams in London in March 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 44,000.00 (€ 51,688.67) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Elgar Hicks - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The General Post Office, One Minute Before Six, which sold at auction in December 2010 for GBP 97,250.00 (€ 112,809.71).
