Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The General Post Office, One minute before six by George Elgar Hicks was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 74,500.00 (€ 88,522.12). Other works by George Elgar Hicks have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in December 2010 by the work The General Post Office, One Minute Before Six at GBP 97,250.00 (€ 112,809.71).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The General Post Office, One minute before six von George Elgar Hicks im Juli 2016 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 74.500,00 (€ 88.522,12) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von George Elgar Hicks wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Dezember 2010 die Arbeit The General Post Office, One Minute Before Six mit GBP 97.250,00 (€ 112.809,71).
