Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The golden-winged fly catcher from Pensylvania & the spotted tortoise Butterfly, from China by George Edwards was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2006. It changed hands for a price of GBP 780.00 (€ 1,158.32) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Admittedly, works by George Edwards have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Twelve Ornithological Studies, from A Natural History of Uncommon Birds in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,541.27).

Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 780,00 (€ 1.158,32) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Edwards auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Twelve Ornithological Studies, from A Natural History of Uncommon Birds im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.250,00 (€ 6.541,27).
