Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2005 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work View of the Heads of Port Jackson, New South Wales, from above Vaucluse Bay by George Edwards Peacock. It changed hands for a price of AUD 59,750.00 (€ 36,232.02) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of AUD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Edwards Peacock - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sydney from Macquarie Street, which sold at auction in May 2003 for AUD 141,000.00 (€ 78,049.72).

Im April 2005 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit View of the Heads of Port Jackson, New South Wales, from above Vaucluse Bay von George Edwards Peacock zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von AUD 59.750,00 (€ 36.232,02) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von AUD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von George Edwards Peacock mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sydney from Macquarie Street beobachtet, die im Mai 2003 für AUD 141.000,00 (€ 78.049,72) versteigert wurde.
