Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The riding school at the Palace, Vienna; A jousting scene; and A mounted knight by George Denholm Armour was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 200.00 – 400.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 59.75 (€ 89.44). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Denholm Armour achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lion and Lioness at Rest in October 2008 with an auction result of USD 30,000.00 (€ 23,655.57).
